PDBEB student Diogo Cabral achieved 3rd place at the Trampoline World Cup in the Men's Double Mini-Trampoline category, held in Coimbra on July 5th and 6th, 2025. The competition brought together some of the best gymnasts in the world, serving as another important stage to showcase national talent.
Diogo Cabral is part of the research group led by Filipe Pereira at CNC-UC - Immune Cell Reprogramming. He is currently developing his PhD project entitled “Refining Cell Immunotherapy Guided by Reprogramming Strategies,”which aims to optimize and define protocols for generating different immune cells, contributing to advances in Immunotherapy. Alongside his academic career, Diogo has stood out both nationally and internationally in trampoline gymnastics, being the national champion in Double Mini-Trampoline in recent years, demonstrating remarkable consistency and dedication throughout his sports career.
This is a remarkable example of how it is possible to balance the demands of PhD-level scientific research with the rigor and discipline required in high-performance sports. The PDBEB is proud to have students who combine academic excellence with top-level sports careers, reflecting the program’s commitment to the holistic training of its doctoral candidates.
According to Diogo Cabral, “It is a privilege to continue working at the highest level, both with the Portuguese national team and in the context of my PhD. I am fully aware that this is only possible thanks to the joint support of the different parties involved — from sports and academic institutions to the research group.”
The PDBEB congratulates Diogo Cabral on this outstanding achievement and wishes him great success in his future competitions and in his PhD journey.
